Wadeye artists have developed a unique and distinctive painting style. Many paintings combine traditional designs with contemporary themes. Wadeye paintings, weaving and carvings have achieved wide recognition and respect in the indigenous art field. Many are purchased as fine art investments. Paintings, didgeridoos, boomerangs, hunting tools, woven baskets and dili bags are available. A selection of aboriginal paintings is available for purchase from this website. See our online gallery. It is also possible to visit the Art and Craft Centre at Wadeye to view and purchase our products. Because Wadeye is on aboriginal land, you will require a permit to travel to the community. See here for access and permit details. Wadeye Arts and Craft is owned by the Wadeye community. It is part of the Murrinbata Tribal Development Association. Staff are dedicated to promoting indigenous culture in a respectful manner. By supporting art, craft and cultural activities, the Association aims first to help the artists and performers develop their skills and confidence, and second to provide financial benefits for the wider Wadeye community. All profits from art and craft sales go back into the community. |
